Lemon Brownie Bars

Lemon Brownie Bars brings together all purpose flour, white sugar, and baking soda for a savory sweet treat that feels extra special.

Ingredients
  

Lemonies:
  • 1 cup of all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 tsp of baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 3 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • zest of 2 lemons
  • 2 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
  • butter or PAM cooking spray to grease your pan
Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 4 tbsp of lemon juice
Garnish:
  • lemon zest

Method
 

  1. in a large bowl- add 1 cup of sifted all purpose flour
  2. add sugar, salt, and baking soda
  3. add eggs, sour cream, & vegetable oil
  4. add lemon zest & lemon juice
  5. Mix all of the above ingredients by hand just until it’s smooth
  6. line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper (I spray the parchment paper with cooking spray for even easier removal)
  7. add the batter and spread it out evenly in the pan
  8. Bake for about 20 minutes at 350
  9. Let the lemonies cool about 10 minutes in the pan
  10. remove from pan
  11. add all of the ingredients for the glaze together and mix
  12. pour and spread the glaze over the lemonies
  13. add lemon zest as a garnish
  14. cut and serve

Notes

  • Storage:  First, you need to let your lemonies cool completely before wrapping, storing, or serving

  • Store for a few days on the counter, but wrap in plastic wrap and go the extra step of putting in a ziplock or container with a lid

  • You can also store in the refrigerator and it will last about 6-8 days
