Baked apples are a classic dish that most people don't think about when you're planning for dessert. This recipe is truly a classic recipe that not only has the best fall flavors but is a healthier option than apple pie, but you wouldn't know by the taste.
The texture, taste, and sweetness that comes from the apples brought out by the sugar, raison, butter, pecan mixture sprinkled on top is a world class experience. If you've never made these before you're in for a treat and the smell that will take over your house is going to get you in all the fall feels. Let's make it!

Ingredients
  

  • 4-6 Apples Roma & Golden Delicious
  • 1/4 cup of chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar heaping
  • 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 4-6 tbsp of butter
  • 3/4 cup of boiling water
  • 1 tbsp of brown sugar & cinnamon for sprinkling over the top of the apples before baking

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F
  2. Using a potato peeler, sharp knife, or apple corer cut out the core of the apple leaving the bottom of the apple intact. Try to scoop out all of the seeds.
  3. Mix together the pecans, raisins, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Combine very well.
  4. Stuff each apple with: 1/2 tbsp butter, then with the pecan mixture,
  5. finally 1 tbsp of butter on top.
  6. Assemble in a baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar over the top of the apples.
  8. Pour about 3/4 cup of boiling water into the baking dish.
  9. Bake at 375° F for about 40-45 minutes or until you can easily poke through the apples with a toothpick or knife.
  10. Slice in half, top with ice cream, and enjoy the BEST Fall dessert! Make it!!
