Cast Iron French Onion Chuck Roast with Dano’s Seasoning
Ingredients
- 1 stick butter
- 1½ –2 pounds chuck roast
- 2 large onions thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 packet Dano’s Dips French Onion Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons Dano’s Outlaw Butter Seasoning
Instructions
Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
Season the Roast
- Pat the chuck roast dry and generously season all sides with Dano’s Outlaw Butter Seasoning.
Sear the Roast
- Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the butter and olive oil.
- Once melted and sizzling, add the chuck roast and sear on both sides until deeply browned. This step builds flavor.
- Remove the roast and push it to the side of the skillet.
Cook the Onions
- Add the sliced onions directly into the skillet. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly golden.
Build the French Onion Base
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle the entire packet of Dano’s French Onion Dip Seasoning over the onions and liquid. Stir gently to combine.
Return the Roast
- Nestle the chuck roast back into the skillet. Sprinkle a little extra Outlaw Butter Seasoning over the top.
Bake Until Fall-Apart Tender
- Cover the skillet tightly with aluminum foil and transfer to the oven.
- Bake at 350°F for 2½–3 hours, or until the roast is fork-tender and easily shreds.
Serve
- Shred the roast directly in the skillet and spoon the onions and juices over the top.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, egg noodles, or pile onto slider rolls for game day. Touchdown.
