Easy Cannoli Dip

A hand with red-painted nails dips a cracker into a creamy dessert topped with chocolate chips, cinnamon, and sliced strawberries, served on a plate. Bowls of strawberries and crackers are in the background.

This Easy Cannoli Dip is a creamy, sweet Italian-inspired dessert made with ricotta, cream cheese, chocolate chips, and vanilla. It has all the flavors of a classic cannoli filling but comes together in minutes and is perfect for dipping with crushed waffle cones. It’s simple, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for holidays, parties, or a quick no-bake dessert. If you like this dip, try my Cherry Pie Dip and my Buckeye Dip.

Ricotta cheese, Mexican vanilla blend, powdered sugar in a bowl, mini chocolate chips in a measuring cup, cream cheese, and ground cinnamon are arranged on a wooden countertop in a kitchen setting.

These waffle cones are so delicious with this dip! 🙂

Before Cooking

When you make a traditional Italian cannoli filling, there’s usually one ingredient you’ll see that’s not in this dip — citron. It’s a candied citrus fruit that adds a bright, slightly chewy texture to the filling and gives it that classic old-school bakery flavor.

For this dip, I skip it to keep things simple and more crowd-friendly, but if you love that authentic taste, you can absolutely mix a little in.

Another important tip — you never want to overmix or overheat your filling. When you’re beating the ricotta and cream cheese together, keep it quick — about 10–15 seconds is all you need. Overmixing can make the texture too loose instead of that thick, creamy consistency you want in a cannoli filling.

Simple, but it makes all the difference.

Instructions

  • First, combine cream cheese (softened) and one 15 oz container of ricotta
  • Then beat together the cream cheese and ricotta with an electric mixer for 15-30 seconds. Do NOT overbeat, this will make it runny. Just until combined.
  • Next, with a spatula or spoon mix in 1 & 1/2 cups confectionery sugar, 1 cup mini chocolate chips, and 1 tsp vanilla
  • Cover the mixture and chill it in the refrigerator a few hours before serving
  • Finally, sprinkle with plenty of cinnamon and serve with some crushed waffle cones and strawberries to dip!

Notes

  • Chill the dip in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.
  • If you have cannoli shells, you can break them up instead of waffle cones. But, a more cost effective option is waffle cones.
