Did you know that I worked at Outback Steakhouse in the 90’s? I was a waitress and a bartender and It was one of my favorite job’s when the restaurant was the most popular in the 90’s I’ve eaten more of these recipes then I care to admit. Friends, I’ve got the most delicious, cheesy and perfect Outback Cheese Fries & Ranch Copycat. The cheese melted so perfectly on top of the fries and the cheese pull was to die for!

The fries were baked so perfectly and the ranch is rich and creamy. This is the type of ranch you’d find at your favorite restaurant and go back just for another taste of the sauce. This was such an easy and quick recipe to make and will not take you more then 45 minutes to have ready and perfected for your taste buds.

I mean let’s be real y’all when you look at this ranch you know it’s going to be absolutely perfect. This is the sauce of the year I’d make a blog post just for this ranch alone. I’m telling all of my peeps this is the best ranch I’ve ever made and even if you don’t make the fries make sure you make this ranch as a dipping sauce for your fridge.

Make sure you pop a pose when you serve your food, this is not a required step but heavily recommended it definitely adds some spice to the fries! On a real note the bacon and green onion topped on the fries make for a delicious extra to the taste. That paired with the dipping into the ranch make for a glorious battle of flavors in your mouth.

What if I don’t have buttermilk?

For me I usually change out buttermilk with 3/4 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar. Then let it sit for 5 minutes.

Can I use more toppings?

Yes if you want to add more toppings like onions, or crushed up chips or anything feel free!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1 ounce hidden valley ranch seasoning packet
  • ¾ cup + 2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 2 & ½ tbsp sour cream
  • ¼ tsp onion powder garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, & cayenne
  • ¾ of a bag of Grown in Idaho hand cut fries
  • 6 pieces of bacon
  • 10 oz freshly shredded colby jack cheese
  • ¼ cup green onions chopped

Instructions
 

  • To make the ranch dressing combine mayo, buttermilk, hidden valley ranch seasoning packet, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, & black pepper.
  • Whisk that together until fully combined and set that aside in the fridge for at least an hour.
  • On a baking sheet with aluminum foil, add the fries and spread them out so they can evenly cook.
  • Bake those in the oven at 425°F for about 23 minutes.
  • While those are cooking, place the bacon in a pan and let those cook until crispy.
  • Once the bacon is brown and crispy, remove it from the pan, and chop it up.
  • Once the fries are done cooking, transfer them to a round baking dish. Shake some salt & pepper over the fries.
  • Then sprinkle over the colby jack cheese and the bacon bits. Place the dish in the oven at 425°F just so the cheese can get melty.
  • Then remove them from the oven and top with the green onions. Dunk the cheese in the homemade ranch and Enjoy!
