Boat Day Taco Dip

Boat Day Taco Dip. I have a few things to tell you. This is the original viral boat day taco dip from TikTok in 2021! Yes, I am the creator and that video and dip has not only had 1000s upon 1000s of incredible reviews, but it’s been made and created by 100s of other creators. (the photos are added lower down in the blog) Now, on that note, this recipe intentionally has no beans. Let me tell you something, PLEASE make this dip and try it before you try to say it needs beans. It does NOT. I PROMISE you the day you make this and set it on the table to serve to your family and friends, you will NEVER make another type of taco dip.
It’s made with simple ingredients, requires zero cooking time, takes about 15 minutes to throw together, and can easily be made ahead of time. And it should be in fact, because it actually gets BETTER as it sits out! The creamy taco-seasoned base layered with salsa, cheese, lettuce, olives, and fresh toppings is the perfect dip for tortilla chips. You can also make this ahead and pop in the refrigerator covered with foil.
For the Fourth of July, I gave this classic recipe a festive makeover by turning it into an American flag! Tap here for my Top 15 4th of July recipes. Using blue tortilla chips for the stars, shredded mozzarella for the white stripes, and rows of cherry tomatoes for the red stripes makes it the perfect patriotic appetizer for your Independence Day party. It’s the exact same delicious taco dip everyone already loves—just dressed up for the holiday.

Melissa’s Tips (Fourth of July Version)
-Use freshly shredded mozzarella if possible. It creates brighter, fluffier white stripes than pre-shredded cheese.
-Cut your cherry tomatoes in half so they lay flat and make cleaner, more even stripes.
-Build the flag after the dip is completely assembled. Once the lettuce and taco seasoning are on, simply add the decorative toppings.
-Blue corn tortilla chips make the perfect blue section of the flag and double as chips for dipping.
-Crumbled Cotija cheese sprinkled over the blue chips gives the look of little stars while adding another layer of flavor.
-Keep the rows of tomatoes and mozzarella fairly thick so the flag design is easy to recognize.
-This version is best assembled shortly before serving so the lettuce stays crisp and the flag design looks fresh!!
