Chili 🌶️
Summary
One of my favorite traditions is to make my chili recipe the first chilly day of the year! For us in Florida it could be any given day late October or November. However, my version of chilly is probably much different than yours! lol
Now, my chili recipe is a combination of my grandmother’s recipe and mine mixed together for a beautiful symphony of deliciousness! I used all the same similar ingredients as my grandmother, but I’ve added a few little secrets of my own. Such as, my secret ingredient! A little bit of Unsweetened cocoa powder Goes a long way in a pot of chili! It helps bring out the flavors and truly makes for an incredible meal!

This chili is pure comfort that will warm you from the inside out! I top my chili with a generous amount of fresh shredded cheddar cheese, green onion, crushed-up Fritos, and a dollop of sour cream. This is a crowd pleaser and will having your family and friends coming back for more!

Chili 🌶️
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp garlic powder 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp paprika,
- 1 tbsp parsley flake.
- salt pepper, & crushed red pepper flakes to taste
- 1-2 tbsp of olive oil
- 1-2 tbsp of Tobasco
- 1.5 lbs. of ground beef
- 2 28 oz. cans of San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes
- 2 16 oz. cans of Dark Red Kidney Beans
- 1 tbsp of tomato paste
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 chopped red bell pepper
- 10 cloves of chopped garlic
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp of cocoa powder unsweetened
Instructions
- In a dutch oven brown ground beef, fresh garlic, red bell pepper, onion, the seasoning blend, & salt and pepper in olive oil at medium heat.
- Crush both cans of whole peeled tomatoes with your hands.
- Add the tomato paste and brown in the pot with the meat mixture.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and add 1/2 cup of water in the can, swirl it, and add to the pot. Add both cans of beans into the pot including the liquid from the can. Fill one of the bean cans halfway with water, swirl it around and add to the pot.
- Bring the pot to a rolling boil then lower to a simmer. Then, add Tobasco, a bay leaf, cocoa powder, and crushed red pepper to the pot.
- Simmer on medium- medium low for about 30-40 minutes. Add water and salt and pepper as needed.
- Garnish with crushed Fritos, cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and sour cream.
I have been searching for a really good chili recipe and I found it!
I didn’t add as much garlic, last time I did and it was too much.
I used 1Tbs.of garlic from jar and a light dusting of garlic powder.
